Whatever happened to sport being fun? When was at school I wanted to represent my school at sports and the teachers put a lot of time and effort in helping me. Our schools are now bottom of the league table when it comes to the amount of time given to P.E. and sport.

Alot of children today would rather sit at a screen and play computer games than go out and get a ball or get involved in sport. More children today are overweight or obese than ever before. I'm fully behind the idea of getting schools to devote more time to sport and developing healthy lifestyles in children at the early year's stage.

Early childhood is a key time for promoting the development of lifelong healthy habits such as physical activity and a healthy diet. Families and carers can be positive role models by participating in physical activities with their children. Without the encouragement and support of my family, friends and teachers I would not have become a Professional Footballer.

The Healthy Goals 'Lifestyle Programme' provides children with the opportunity to enjoy sport and make lifestyle changes and is an effective and meaningful way of delivering the PSCHE Curriculum.
